State finds irregularities but no fraud in county offices
Columbus Aug 25 The state bureau of accounting released findings from examinations in Ross Athens Montgomery counties and Dayton. Recovery amounts total 2154.76 in Ross with 76.96 illegal payments. Athens school accounts show 1231.64 with 566.01 already made up. Audits covered 1925 to 1928 in various offices and copies go to county treasurer and prosecutor.

Wage scale agreement reached by union and operators in Kansas City
In Kansas City Aug 25 union officials and operators signed a wage scale pact for miners under the Southwestern Association. The contract sets piecework rates from 1.01 to 1.522 per ton, scales 1 to 2 dollars per ton, becomes effective Sept 1 and expires March 31, 1981. The agreement follows three days of talks between United Mine Workers representatives in Missouri Oklahoma Kansas and coal operators groups.
