Nelsonville community chest trustees schedule a meeting at the Fast National Bank on August 26 at 7:30 pm. They will discuss reviving local drives suspended during the war by combining several campaigns into one general effort.
Funeral services for Mrs Mary Ann Lenox who died at Maple Hall Tuesday night will be held Friday August 23 at 1 pm at the residence of her son Walter Lenox in Maple Hill. Friends may call at any time. Burial will be at Greek Lawn Cemetery. Rev John Lloyd Evans will officiate.

Nelsonville man charged with parking a motor vehicle ten feet from a fire hydrant and a crosswalk. Jack Davis posted $1,360 bond for appearance in court. Acting Mayor H. E Wilson Earl Philips of Columbus charged by City Police with unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and pleaded guilty with a $10 fine plus costs.

Nelsonville plans a three day drive led by Ohio University graduate Donald Shafer to find rooms for veterans attending OU this fall. Volunteers from eight area groups will canvass the city from Monday to Wednesday, with Mechem's Shoe Store serving as headquarters. The university may operate a bus route to Nelsonville if enough veterans secure lodging. Vic Shafer recalled that last spring at least 15 rooms were found but unused due to lack of bus service.
