Columbus report shows Underwood listed expenditures of 233.60 with 458.42 in receipts for the Underwood for Congress committee. Milton B. Cox, defeated for lieutenant governor, reported 296.79 in expenses. Verner E. Metcalf, Marietta, winner for Republican state Senate in Ninth-Fourteenth District, listed 155.25 in expenditures.
Walter E. Kruger, Rossford insurance salesman, led by one vote over Judge George E. Schroth of Tiffin for the Republican nomination to Congress in the Thirteenth District. Erie County returns show Schroth 6 704 votes, Kruger 6 703. Kruger announced he would seek a recount.
COLUMBUS Aug 22 In a state Highway Patrol inspection in Ross County seven buses flagged unsafe and 33 overcrowded. One bus had an unsatisfactory entrance while 31 lacked adequate emergency exits. Heaters advised for 62 buses and fire extinguishers for 44. Fifty eight buses were found without both personal injury and liability insurance.
The federal government acts to quell threats against nearly 1 000 Japanese ordered from Salt River Valley by white farmers urging removal. Arizona Governor Moeur to comment as county officials enforce the alien land law barring non native Orientals from owning or leasing farm land. A mass meeting of 600 white farmers last week warned of actions this Saturday.
Washington August 22 UP John L Donovan youthful leader of white collar labor regained his NRA post as technical advisor to the Blue Eagle labor advisory board after the National Labor Relations Board ruled his discharge by Hugh J Johnson was unwarranted. Peck NRA official accepted the award noting Donovan must avoid past acts while resuming duties. Johnson gave no immediate comment.
STEUBENVILLE Aug 22 A man who thinks his name is Scott was held in county jail after being found wandering the streets of Mingo Junction a suburb.
Quincy Cole, 71, of Coolville R D 3, confessed to Athens and Meigs County officers that he shot Herbert Griffen, 55, after believing Griffen’s wife contracted a social disease from him. Griffen died early today in a Parkersburg hospital. Cole led authorities to the shotgun used, hidden near his home.
Berlin reports new evidence of pagan influence under the Nazi regime with the founding of The Nordic Faith Movement. The group rejects redemption and hopes for the beyond as anti Christian weeklies surge in Westphalia with circulations running into tens of thousands.

Gov Henry Horner Senator William H Dieterich and Chief Justice Norman L Jones of the Illinois Supreme Court met the President and escorted him to the Rainey home.
The Rev. R. H. Askew, evangelist, admitted the kidnapping tale was false and that he authored the ransom messages sent to his wife, according to Sheriff Paul Garrison in GOLDSBORO N C.

Athens County Republicans plan an organization meeting of the Central Committee in the Courthouse courtroom next Monday night followed by a banquet at Hotel Berry. Invites go to state district and county candidates from the recent primary. Committee in charge includes R W Finsterwald Harry Kelly and Earl Johnston with tickets from them. An outstanding speaker is being arranged. Other officers include E C Woodworth and David Johnson.
Five inmates including William H. Mason escaped the Hamilton County Jail in Noblesville Indiana this morning with outside help. They cut bars on a second floor window used a hack saw and a heavy chain to lower themselves 12 feet to the ground.
