Local hunters fear a fad as women might abandon the bridge table for shotguns and turn the woods into a dangerous place for mankind.
A foreclosure petition filed in Athens County Common Pleas Court seeks mortgage foreclosure of 142,300 and appointment of a receiver for the Hotel Berry. Named defendants include Andrew W. Aliom William E. Peters Albert Pick Barth Co G D Gorham treasurer of Athens County and The Hotel Berry Operating Co. The Berry Hotel Co conveyed property on Court Street and Mill Street plus furnishings to Midwest Bond and Share Inc along with 10 promissory notes totaling 142,300 bearing 6.5 percent interest with semiannual payments.

Col. Charles A. Lindbergh, mapping proposed North Atlantic routes, departed Reykjavik at 7 20 a m EST for an undisclosed destination. The voyage aims to chart airways for future crossings.

Senator James Couzens testified that banks nationwide operated in technical violation of law under the Hoover administration, based on the belief prosperity was near. Hoover is currently at sea fishing.
London reports two committees of wheat experts met to prepare for a world wheat conference with 31 producing and importing nations awaiting government instructions. A dumping war looms if agreement on price-raising production controls is not reached.

SOUTH BEND Ind Aug 22 UP Harold Schaab 33 of Chicago confessed he was the driver of a truck that crashed near here killing six on the way home from a World’s Fair holiday at Wakarusa Indiana He said he stopped after the crash helped pull bodies off the highway tried to get neighbors to call ambulances then fled saying I got scared at seeing all the bodies and went on to Chicago An Indiana state police officer traced the truck from a tire fragment found at the scene.
The corpse of a murdered man, third in a series using a new strangulation method, was found in an automobile on the Belleville border of Newark. Authorities report the victim was bound to prevent movement and death occurred by strangulation.
At Fairmont Road crossing near Lumberton North Carolina eleven people were killed and five injured when a tobacco truck from Deep Run collided with a Seaboard Airline passenger train. Four of the injured were reported in critical condition.
