Gov. James A. Rhodes signed bills into law adding amphetamines to state drug statutes and extending penalties for illegal sales or distribution. The measure takes effect November 19 with fines up to 1000 dollars and up to five years in jail. a second offense carries 5000 dollars and up to 20 years. The second act allows inmates to work while serving time behind bars, effective January 1 1970, to let them keep regular jobs and lessen family hardship.
