Shipyard Work Cancelled By Navy Order Across 195 Ships

The Maritime Commission announced the cancellation of 425.9 million in contracts covering the construction of 195 ships and three contracts for special military equipment. The affected ships include 35 coastal cargo ships 42 Victory Fargo ships 24 small tankers for lend lease to Britain four Liberty ships converted to aircraft repair ships eight military type victories eight tankers five large military transports of the C 4 type six refrigerator ships and three large P 2 type passenger ships. Three contracts for special equipment accounted for 70 million of the total cancellations.
