Autopsy details fatal Athens robbery shooting and stabbing

An autopsy for Markel J. Morrison 22 found he died from a penetrating brain injury caused by a gunshot wound to the head with two gunshot wounds and four stab wounds in an Athens County incident tied to a late May robbery attempt. Human Power Pull Engages Youth at County Fair

Saturday at the county fair featured a Human Power Pull where young participants tug tractors by rope. Teams across men women and youth classes competed for best times as spectators packed bleachers. The event, 20 to 25 years old, aims to entertain while promoting 4 H youth development and lifelong learning. AutoZone sponsored prizes for first and second in each class, now awarding toolkits. Nelsonville York school becomes REACH youth program site

The former Nelsonville York elementary and middle school now hosts Hopewell Health Center’s REACH program for youths 6 to 17. REACH teaches coping, emotions, self regulation with goals to return to a regular school setting. The Athens origin site expanded to include an after school program.
