Two Meigs Men Sentenced to State Penitentiary
In Common Pleas Court Judge John Bacon sentenced Charles Laudermilt of Pomeroy to one to 20 years and Melvin Lee of Middleport to one to seven years. Laudermilt, who had pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, had been under probation after a prior truck theft conviction. The case followed a near head on collision on Route 7 that injured five and left Pearl Williams in Meigs General Hospital. Lee pleaded guilty to stealing from a slaughter house, including an electric meat grinder and kettles, valued at about 500 dollars, after a grand jury indictment in 1956.
