Crane Upsets At Rendville Wreck Scene

CORNING A railroad wrecking crane overturned this morning while clearing freight cars from an earlier wreck in Rendville yards. The wrecker engineer W. B. Trowner and the fireman escaped unharmed as the crane toppled during the 10 car derailment on the New York Central line. White Canada bound paper cars were among the derailed loads. Three hundred yards of track were torn up. Train master L. W. Probasco expected the main line cleared by midday but track blockage remained.

Motor Boat Trek Ends in Sandusky After 4500 Mile Route

Harvey FE. Hecker, 75, a Spanish War veteran, steered a homemade 15 foot outboard motor car into Sandusky, concluding a 4500 mile water trip covering the Ohio and Mississippi rivers, the Gulf, the Intracoastal Waterway, New York, and the Erie Canal. Hecker noted the roughest water was on the home stretch and cited a tough trip from Cleveland to Sandusky on Lake Erie. He paused to greet City Manager Karl H. Kugel at the foot of Columbus Avenue.

Stevens predicts longer U S troop stay in Korea

U S Secretary of the Army Robert T. Stevens says American and Allied troops will remain in Korea for several years. He spoke after eight days touring with Secretary Dulles and met President Rhee, visiting Freedom Village before flying home. Wife of airline executive leaps to pool in apartment dive

New York police said Laura Mae Creighton 36 wife of an airline executive dressed in a bathing suit and jumped nine stories from her roof into a four foot deep pool. She was taken to Coney Island Hospital in critical condition with no explanation for the act.
