William C. Davis and Betty Jean Brinson were married in a rural ceremony near DeGraff, Ohio, with the bride and groom mounted on horses and a mule hosting the minister. Davis, 30, a former rodeo star and 1964 Tri State champion, returns home after a decade in the west. Brinson, 32, an electronics assembler at NCR Dayton, met Davis July 4 when she fainted during a ranch ride and was helped by him on horseback.

President Johnson nominated Charles R. Simpson to the U S Tax Court. A 44 year old former Harvard Law School faculty member who has been blind since childhood, he now heads the legislation and regulations division at the Internal Revenue Service. Simpson began his government career in 1952 and rose through the IRS ranks, receiving the Justice Tom C Clark Award last May.
