Members of the Get Together Club at Glouster Memorial Park held a brief business session led by Ruby Norris. Ice cream and cookies were served. The club’s next meeting is a stork shower at Ruby Norris home on Sept 7.
Mrs Jessie Walker hosted the 500 Club on Monday evening with guests Mrs Elizabeth Ley and Mrs Kathryn Whiteman. Ley held high score, Ina Morgan was second, and Whiteman placed last.
A birthday tea honoring Mrs Delpha White was hosted at the home of Mrs Dale Dew in Burr Oak. Seventy guests were invited and nine attended including the guest of honor and family.
Mr and Mrs Ralph Judson and two children returned to Fond du Lac Wisconsin after a two week visit with Mr and Mrs Thomas Judson. Mrs Gladys Viney hosted weekend guests including her children Karla Logan Andrew Mrs Richard Viney Robert and Emma Viney of Detroit. Miss Viney recently hospitalized will stay here. Merle Danford returned from Yellow Springs Ohio where she and Miss Anne Pickering from Athens attended Shakespeare Festival at Antioch Area Theatre. The Winter's Tale Cymbeline and As You Like It were performed in a weekend program.
The Chauncey Garden Club hosts a flower display at the Athens County Fair chaired by Mrs. Elizabeth Boling.
Guardian and administrator accounts filed for multiple estates including Pauline An and Leona Leath with distributions noted. Applications for administration and probate filed for Moodie Melville Dunn Moodie and Dunn, with witnesses Tague. Court set salaries for delinquent tax prosecutions. various divorce and custody suits noted, plus several small property transfers and marriage licenses in Perry County towns.
Mr and Mrs Victor Lewis and son of Clarksburg spent a weekend with O rville Lewis and family. Mrs Margetane, Mrs Paul Daugherty and Brenda visited Mary Rosser. Mrs Frank Coe visits her son in law and daughter. Many West family members attended the West reunion. Putnam homecoming set for Sunday August 14 at 10 30 am Sunday school with a basket dinner to follow.
Oakdale homecoming features a new rear addition to the church to be finished for the event next Sunday. The 15 by 26 foot room was built by church men and will be decorated for the program. Rev. Joseph McDonald of Bishopville, a former Oakdale member, will present the church history at 2 p.m. His name appears on the original deed as a 1905 trustee, joined by trustees Johnae and Richard Frazier.
Chauncey Robert A Jackson son of Mr and Mrs Albert Jackson received the Mrs Oral Daugherty Scholarship to Ohio University and the Farm Bureau Award for the highest scholastic average in commercial subjects. He will enter Ohio University in September after eight years in Chauncey Dover activities and will play again at the Ohio State Fair this year.
Chauncey Society reports Mrs Pauline Cruikshank visiting Mr and Mr Junior Dowler of Brookville. Clifford Finkend and Mrs Clifford Pink attended. Jack Ley and children joined guests of Alan White, Lima News sports editor. Weekend callers include Mrs Kathryn Jennings and sister Monroe Kachman, Floyd Highland Jr and families. Paul McKinney and Paulette with Ruth Ann visited Mrs McKinney's mother. Hazel Bellar of Leon West Virginia and C H Courtney with children dined with Arthur Chiki in Ath ens. Virgil Preston of Nelsmville.
Due to many members being away on vacation an abbreviated Kiwanis meeting was held Monday evening at Hotel Gordon. A round table and social session occurred with Rev D K Teater presiding.
