Washington reports defense officials say the Korean truce does not lessen the burden of military service. Draft calls will run 19 000 to 23 000 monthly for 11 months, tours of duty stay the same, and manpower planning keeps forces near pre truce levels with 3 300 000 total.
Otmer Roush aged 59, a Union Community farmer, died Sunday at 8 am in Sheltering Arms Hospital Athene after surgery. He had been ill for a year and death was due to ruptured appendix. Survived by wife, two sons Richard and Olivier Lee, three daughters, a sister and a brother. Funeral at 2 pm Tuesday at the Roush home with Rev. Homer Hicks officiating.
A Dayton woman fearing unhappy marriage climbed halfway up a 103 foot police radio tower Sunday afternoon. Firemen failed on the first rescue but pulled her down on the second attempt. The husband is living with his parents in Dayton.
A Sunday blaze caused about $50,000 damage to a Sears, Roebuck & Co. store in Cincinnati. Fire crews investigated the cause and limited damage to the storefront and interior displays. The building housed Sears merchandise and adjacent shops, with no reported serious injuries.
Accidents caused 18 deaths in Ohio over the weekend. An Associated Press tally for 6 p.m. Friday to midnight Sunday shows 14 highway fatalities, four other accidents, and one drowning.

The Navy will drop 2200 reserve officers next January to meet budget limits. A board completed action reducing 1200 reserve lieutenant commanders and captains, while about 1000 reserve lieutenants face release by an ongoing board. About 11,000 reserve lieutenants are on active duty, with normal attrition handling minor cuts. The service currently has 37,000 reserve officers in all grades on duty.
Denver reporters tour Lowry Air Force Base where President Eisenhower maintains a small 12 by 15 foot office in the base administration building. Aides who traveled from Washington occupy newly lettered rooms along the corridor and the site is nicknamed the Denver White House.
President Eisenhower received a report from Secretary Dulles on talks with South Korea's President Syngman Rhee. Dulles said Rhee offered assurances no violation of the three week old truce would occur. The meeting occurred at Lowry Air Force Base after Dulles' arrival following a Far East flight.
Two repatriated POWs from Ohio report most American prisoners resisted Communist propaganda. Pvt. Russell L. Freeman of Dayton says lectures were offered but many did not respond. Cpl. Willie F. Mansfield of Hamilton notes rumors about Black soldiers staying with the Reds, but claims they did not stay by choice.
Reports from Inchon and Panmunjom describe 30 of 306 prisoners from Camp 5 on the Yalu River who allegedly intend to preach communism in the United States. Cpl Leslie E Seales and others from Iowa and Alabama recall talks of joining groups like Fx-POWs for Peace and Veterans for Peace, with one marching to a San Francisco reunion.
Charles F Rayburn aged 74 died at his Sand Hill Road home Sunday evening. Born September 2 1878 in Mason County he was the son of Thomas and Sarah Jane Rayburn. Survived by wife and children Sybil Thuise Smith Charles Leslie Rayburn Edwin Leroy Rayburn one grandchild Donnie Arnold Rayburn two brothers Camden Rayburn and Curt Rayburn one sister Mrs Jasper Roush. A brother and sister preceded him in death. Franklin funeral home arranging last rites.
Twenty two people were hurt when a car struck and overturned a truck carrying Indiana National Guardsmen north of Mount Pleasant. The Peru Ind. unit had just completed a two week training at Camp Grayling and was returning home.
Associated Press photographer Frank Noel and his wife Evelyn reunited in Tokyo after a 3 year 1 month separation including 32 months in Red prison stockades and 42 days in solitary. Noel, 48, known as pappy, was released from Korea yesterday after covering the Korean War.
Twenty four airmen parachuting from a damaged C-119 Flying Boxcar over the Libyan Desert were all found alive. Twenty one rescued earlier and three more located later by air and ground teams near Wheelus Field in Tripoli. Survivors transported to Wheelus Air Force Hospital with minor injuries.
Gallia County physician Dr Donald Warehime said a family member of a deceased patient threatened him with a shotgun Saturday evening. The man entered town, threw the gun into the city arch, then sat in the grass sobbing as police arrived. No charges were filed.
A high speed crash killing both drivers hurled a third victim to his death landing 51 feet onto the roof of a Long Beach service station. The deceased bartender Leonard Salisbury, 30, was found on the roof hours later. Firefighters briefly misidentified Salisbury as a woman before confirming the victim.
In New Bern North Carolina Elliot Ogman aged 111 sought a marriage license. Register Jane Holland noted his age as 111 and his bride Clyde Mage Godard of Williamston listed as 22. Ogman joked his baby will hear of it as he recalls Civil War memory.
