Athens police launched a citywide double parking drive after a traffic problem worsened all summer. Chief E S Finsterwald said violators would be tagged and fined, with trucks limited to ten minutes and arrest possible for persistent offenders.
Weather for the week favored farm work except for excessive dryness hindering fall plowing in many districts. Rain is badly needed across northern eastern and most central areas where crops deteriorate, while scattered showers helped some southwestern Ohio counties. Harvesting and threshing of small grain progressed well with a satisfactory yield except oats. Haying nears completion. Corn conditions remained satisfactory and sometimes above normal but still lacked rain.
Thousands of pupils in Cuyahoga County face possible school closures before year end as officials estimate June tax receipts at about 21 million dollars. In five cities, teachers have only contracts funded by current revenues, delaying full term.

Natchez Mississippi August 10 A U P report says fingerprints at the scene of the murder of Miss Jane Sargent Merrill match Dick Dana 41 a bearded scion of a prominent family. Dana and his housekeeper Miss Octavia Dockery are charged with murder at Glenwood known as Goat Gables once Dana family estate. Dockery is daughter of a Confederate general.
A man about 40 identified tentatively as M Bonomo was found murdered near Agosta in Marion County between 11 and 12 Tuesday night. The only identifiable items were a card issued to M Bonomo by a Cleveland press shop and a tattooed B M on his forearm. The body was discovered by John Finjaci, a farm hand, in weeds beside a road near an Erie Railroad crossing.
Berlin August 10 Hitler the fascist leader seeking dictatorship pushed for the chancellorship after talks with President Hindenburg and Chancellor Papen. Hindenburg returned from Neudeck to discuss including Nazis in the cabinet but resisted surrendering the chancellorship. Hitler pressed for full power as his militia gathered near Berlin, signaling possible trouble.
Logan police report success in traffic regulation on Main Street after a two week campaign led by Chief Lew Reynolds. Only two arrests occurred last Saturday under the 12 hour patrol, with arraignments before Mayor Elias Bright and fines of one dollar plus costs.
In Miami on August 10 Captain William N Lancaster the British aviator on trial for the murder of Haden Clarke denied the charge stating I did not. The defense opened the second day of examination questioning whether Clarke was killed in a love triangle with Mrs Jessie M Keith Miller.
The Seal Boy Crover Cleveland Bramer was hospital bound with a possible skull fracture after a mishap when being carried to a taxi post performance. Fears spread among the 42nd Street Dime Circus acts and Prince Eric Zulong reported nervous indigestion as the group noted the accident. Bramer called it only a bump and said he would return, more of a freak than ever.
The Interstate Commerce Commission denied the Nelsonville Athens Electric Railway Company Ohio loan request for 115000 from the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. The commission found the prospective earnings and security inadequate to assure repayment.
Amended dispatch from Nelsonville notes that professional miners living outside but within reasonable driving distance and previously employed in the Hocking Valley mines become eligible for work in Athena County properties under the governor’s plan.
