George Frazier and Harman Chapple, both of Athens and Richland Avenue, were fined five dollars and costs each after pleading guilty to intoxication charges.
Cleveland August 7 Walter Johnson manager of the Cleveland Indians will resume active control of the club not later than August 14. The Tribe will travel to Washington for a series with the Senators on that date assuming his doctors order allows.
Ath ens City Council approved financing for the cities share of rebuilding West State Street from Court to Lancaster. Bonds totaling six thousand dollars were authorized, with one fifth of costs to be assessed to property owners. Bills for Maple removal actions and related legal work were presented and referred to the city solicitor.
Pope Pius denounced the German National Movement during an audience with twenty German Catholic Youth Society members in Castel Gandolfo. George V. Frye, manager of a Salem liquor store, is free on 500 bond on four counts of selling liquor to minors. The case emerged after May or Norman Phillips challenged liquor permit procedures following the transfer of a glass-sale permit to 20 year old Ann Lucas.
In Pine Grove Kentucky two rival Bath County family factions fought a shotgun duel in front of Pine Grove school. Tom Ingram 38 and Obd Short 78 both fired once and died from heart-aimed charges. The fatal confrontation ends a longrunning family feud.

Washington August 74 The Postmaster General announced the appointment of 1,885 additional regular employees in large post offices nationwide to provide satisfactory facilities for patrons. The appointments become effective August 146 and go to senior substitute staff.
In Piqua on Aug 7 burglars spent hours trying to crack a safe in the Sherer Bell Motor Company sales room and fled after failing, driving away an automobile.
The United States will withdraw the 845 Marines from Port au Prince by August 15, ending a 19 year occupation begun in July 1915. The move comes two months ahead of schedule after President Roosevelt's July visit, completing the evacuation and restoring Haiti's full sovereignty.
