Frank Clough 31, also known as Frank Taylor of Columbus, allegedly abducted a 19 year old Catskill girl. Bridgeport authorities say he posed as a Methodist minister. The couple planned to marry after registering at a Bridgeport hotel but learned a five day waiting period was required in Connecticut. The bride to be was with her parents in Catskill.
Atlantic City Aug 6 William Green president of the American Federation of Labor urged restoring the Civil Works Administration saying unemployment remains a major issue and about 10,000,000 workers are jobless. He spoke to the Columbus Chamber of Commerce outlining reservoirs at Bellepoint Delaware Worthington Darby Creek Harrisburg Deer Creek Williamsport Paint Creek Salt Creek and along the Sandusky River near Upper Sandusky and Tiffin.

Cecil Billman 19 of Canton Ohio was killed by an Illinois Central train in Broadview Illinois. Clifford McClary 19 also from Canton said they were headed to Sterling to seek work with help from Bills uncle. They slept in a ditch beside the rail line and Billman fell while attempting to board a moving car, his head hitting a post.
In Youngstown on August 6 petitions addressed to President Roosevelt will start circulating promoting a proposed waterway through Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. Thousands of workers will join the effort, with Senator Robert J. pledging aid to push papers before the chief executive.
