Prosecutor seeks assistant to handle flood of felony cases
Nolan said 124 grand jury cases from January to July nearly equal the total for 1972 and an assistant prosecutor would help screen cases to reduce dismissals. He noted 114 cases in 1970 with 71 convictions and 132 cases in 1972 yielding 74 percent convictions. An assistant would also handle civil suits to avoid conflicts when schools face complex matters such as suspending a county superintendent.
