Lieut Clinton Pattridge from Racine Wisconsin died and Cadet Harold Wilson from Shelbyville Illinois was injured when their airplane crashed at Chanute Field Rantoul Illinois on August 6 according to U P dispatch.
George Leber reported to Cleveland police that his mother-in-law is detaining his nine months old baby to force payment of a claimed $50 debt for the baby's board and nine months' storage of furniture. The couple said the child is being kept until the alleged debt is settled.
In Columbus, Aug 6, police investigated the death of 19 year old Joe Melfi found at a New York Central crossing after his 5 year old brother Dave located the body. John Barker, 17, was arrested then released as investigators pursue a possible murder motive. Barker allegedly fled the scene as Dave discovered Joe with a fractured skull.
Edward Follett, a Marietta former Common Pleas judge, and other violators were fined a total of 1600 by Municipal Judge Holmes. Follett received 190 dollars. A new trial motion was set for August 14 after his arrest by vice squad at a sister's Park Avenue home on July 19.
Three year old Sidney Du Bois was fatally or critically injured after darting into the path of an automobile in Columbus while walking with his parents. The driver paused at the scene and authorities investigated.
