The Sunday Christian Science Church in Athens will read a lesson with Spirit as the subject. The golden text proclaims the fruit of the Spirit in all goodness righteousness and truth. Citations include Jeremiah 29 8 and a passage from Science and Health noting perfection through Spirit and error as its opposite.
Visiting pastors will occupy Athens pulpits as ministers take time off. Rev. Russell Bayliff, Dr. H. T. Houf, Homer C. Smith, and C. M. Clouston will preach at local churches. Special music planned as revivals run statewide. Ohio University summer session ends, students depart from church classes until fall.
Chauncey Church of Christ begins at 9:30 with church school led by Andrew Simpkins and Dan Johnson. Lord's Supper at 10:30 followed by devotion and worship. Rev. Gilbert Courtney preaches at Taylor Ridge 9:30 and Trimble 10:30. The Plains Church of the Nazarene opens at 9:30 with Carrie Connell leading Sunday School. Drell Goff preaches 10:45 and 7:30.
Two services will be held Sunday at the Downington Church of the Albany M. E. circuit due to a revival. Evangelist H B Calver from Portsmouth and Pastor T A Ballinger will preach at 10 30 a m after 9 30 church school. Evening service at 8 o'clock, with meetings nightly for 10 days from opening date.
Dr H T Houf will preach on Big Sinners and Little Saints at the Presbyterian Church Sunday at 10 30 a m. Rev Fred E Luchs pastor, is on vacation in New York City doing study at Union Theological Seminary. Mrs Lachs teaches this month at Teachers College Columbia University. Worship services continue through August.
Rev C M Clouston of Shawnee Church of Christ will preach at Athens Church of Christ No 6 on Stimson Ave Sunday at 10 15 am on the subject High waymen and Citizens Bible Study at 9 45 am on Revelations Chapter XXII Communion at 11 am and Evening Service at 7 45 pm.
Rev. A. L. Clary, pastor of the Reedsville M. E. charge, will preach Sunday at Joppa Church at 9 30 a m, at Reedsville at 11 a m, and at Long Bottom at 7 30 p m.

Haydenville hosts unity meeting at 2 p m. Young People meet at 6 30 pm. Lesson Beatitudes. Evening service led by song director Raymond Atkins. Mrs Nicholas to speak in pastor's absence on Beholding Ourselves. Mid week service Wednesday at 7 30 p m.
Pomeroy Church of Christ will observe Men's Day with Bible school at 9:30 a.m. worship at 10:30 a.m. Rev. B. H. Morris to speak on Should We Observe the Lord's Supper. Christian Endeavor at 7 p.m. and evening services at 8 p.m.
Wesleyan Methodist Church schedules Sunday School at 9 30 a m with a sermon by Rev E C Kenney. An evangelistic sermon follows at 7 30 p m. The Young People’s meeting is set for 7 30 p m Tuesday. Prayer and praise service is Thursday at 7 30 p m led by Fred Penn Jr. The Wesleyan Prayer Band meets Friday at 2 p m.
The Tuppers Plains U B Church will host a Sunday sermon titled The Kind of Prayers Jesus Never Prayed. Sunday School begins at 9 30 a m with communion set for 10 30 a m. Baptist services follow the sermon. Sunday School at Lottridge Church starts 9 30 a m with preaching to follow.

Margaret Jane Hardy returned home with her mother from Lebanon for a two week stay. Bertram McDougle gave his mother a new electric icebox. Wanda Wallace, Dam 29, stayed with aunts Mrs James Davis and Mrs Kenneth McLoud. Wilkie Larson hosted relatives, Junior Delaney visited sister Addie Mae in Parkersburg, Bertram McDougle a Toronto worker visited, Rodrick Grimm Walter Sayre and nephew Kelly Aus Antiquity joined Wilkie Larson’s family, Kenner Walbrown, Power, W. Va., visited his parents.

Mr. and Mrs. John Shafer entertained guests this week including Mr. and Mrs. Victor Grinstead, Betty Lou Sands, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bingman, Anna Lee Channell, Mrs. Janice Channell, from Athens and Columbus, Mr. Bumgardner and Mrs. Louie West, from Nelsonville and Akron, plus Bobbie Hawk.
Mrs Lewis Sanders sustained leg injuries when she fell through a porch floor at the home of Mr and Mrs Chester Sanders in Millfield. She required seven stitches for a deep cut on her right leg and is making a satisfactory recovery but cannot walk yet.
Weekly cottage gathering at the home of Mr and Mrs Marion Walton will host the Morristown Holiness Church prayer meeting tonight.
The Greens Run Church of Christ Ladies Aid Society met in the Parish House with president Lena Leake presiding. Hostesses were Mrs. Effie Cartwright Mrs. Mary Davis and Mrs. Dorothy Vernon. Plans were made for the August 9 election day dinner and for the August 18 picnic with games afterward. Four visitors attended and several members listed.
Chauncey Dr C N Sanders and Carson Sanders Jr of Millfield along with Masonic Lodge members from Trimble attended a Shrine meeting in London Ohio on Thursday night.

Chauncey Zine A Courtney, long bed bound at his home in The Plains due to serious illness, was moved to Sheltering Arms Hospital in Athens where he received foot surgery on Wednesday.
Rev. Earl Cowen and Rev. A H Beckett will lead a revival series at Shade Methodist Church in Athens beginning August 7. The meetings aim to draw residents seeking spiritual renewal and community fellowship through focused sermons and prayer.
The Loyal Women’s Class of the Church of Christ met Wednesday afternoon at the president Mrs Carl Shafer’s home on Mound Street with Mrs Shafer leading. Devotions were by Mrs Peter Rankin the secretary’s report by Mrs Vira Shafer and program by Mrs Guy Brookins and Mrs Thomas Hamilton. Lessons were by Mrs Lloyd Peddergrass and Mrs Floyd Nye. Mrs Carl Shafer and daughters Lois Ann and Elizabeth Spears sang. Hostess served refreshments. The parasitic dodder plant has neither leaves nor roots after passing the seedling stage.
