Riot gangs of communists attacked two West Berlin food stations as 6000 Reds tried to disrupt American rations for East Germans. Police beat back storm columns in American and French sectors. about 50 arrests reported with many injuries. East Berliners pressed on despite threats and blockades.
Secretary of State Dulles arrived in Seoul with Henry Cabot Lodge and aides 13 hours late due to a Pacific storm. The stop follows a pledge to visit South Korea if President Rhee did not obstruct an armistice. The group landed at 10:06 p.m. local time after crossing the stormy North Pacific.
Milwaukee. Bernard Baruch told the 54th VFW encampment that if Russia does not begin disarming within a year the U S must speed arms building even if taxes must rise. He urged caution about large tax cuts while maintaining military strength for peace talks. He noted postwar efforts to secure peace without force failed.
Ernest A. Wingett of Racine has been named principal of Scipio High School at Harrisonville. He will succeed Orin H. Smith who leaves after seven years to become principal at Rutland High School. Wingett previously taught industrial arts at Rutland and has prior experience as Scipio principal.
Franklin Richie, 16, of Chicago, was killed in Dayton when a rifle he was playing with slid from a porch glider cushion, struck the floor, and fired into his back on Monday.
In Salina Kansas a Air Force bomber crash landed in a farm field Monday. All ten crew members escaped unharmed and were accounted for by rescue teams. The incident prompted a security response and investigation into the cause.

General Mark W. Clark United Nations Far East commander will fly to Washington today for an official welcome and conferences before returning to Tokyo. He and Mrs. Clark recently arrived in the United States and attended his son’s wedding in New Orleans. Clark plans to return to the Far East around August 10.
An estimated 265 persons drowned last week in flash floods that swept away a village in rugged northern Iran. The floods isolated the valley near Vaz, Tijan and Chalsia until Monday when messengers carried the news by donkeyback, Tehran papers said.
In Bellefontaine Ohio a 49 year old man named James Bird shot his wife Mildred 45 during a family quarrel then was killed by State Highway Patrolman F A Denison after Bird fired on him. Mildred Bird was in fair condition in a Bellefontaine hospital. The chase began in Southern Logan County and ended behind a farm building off U S 68.

The House approved a debt limit increase while the Senate held back a final bill. Eisenhower received a warm reception at the event.

Columbus police charged Glen H. Smith, 20, an AWOL soldier from Ft. Campbell Kentucky, with kidnapping a 36 year old housewife and attempting to assault her. He forced the woman into a rented car after beating her. she escaped when the car stopped at a dead end street.
Hollywood mourns veteran actor Harry Lang once known as Pancho on the Cisco Kid radio show. He died of a heart attack at his home Monday, leaving a notable career in radio and film.
Republican senators moved to elect a permanent Senate majority leader with Sen. William F. Knowland as the sole candidate. A late bid to delay the vote failed, and Knowland already announced he would not remain as acting leader, succeeding late Senate Leader Robert A. Taft who died Friday after a battle with cancer.
Eddy Gilmore, AP chief in Moscow for 11 years, said indications point to Soviet Russia reopening to foreign tourists next summer. He noted Premier Malenkov appears in firm control and expects no large upheaval after Stalin's death. Donald F. Hansel 22 of Columbus Ohio was electrocuted Monday when a model plane he piloted struck a high tension wire on a farm near Saginaw. The charge traveled down the plane s guide wire killing him almost instantly.

Sen Robert Taft son of a president is buried in Cincinnati after a state funeral in Washington. A private service was read at Indian Hill Church with about 200 attendees and no eulogy, while a public memorial was held at Christ Church with Bishop Henry Wise Hobson officiating. Taft died Friday in New York of cancer.
Panmunjom reports the imminent large prisoner exchange as 400 Allied war prisoners will be freed daily, including 100 per hour for four hours, with 12 763 captives to be handed over from the Red side.
