Apollo 15 astronauts David Scott and James Irwin climbed partway down the Hadley Rille wall to collect rocks that may reveal ancient lunar volcano activity. They returned to the Falcon with more samples as Worden maneuvered Endeavour into lunar orbit for an afternoon rendezvous.

Steel Walkout Off After Pact Okayed

Washington AP reports a national steel strike was avoided as 350,000 workers accepted a settlement centered on a 30 percent pay rise and expanded fringe benefits. The pact raises wages minimmum to 1 per hour over three years with cost of living protections and extra holidays while U S Steel turned away arriving workers.
