Brown Seeks Liberal Turn in Southeast Ohio Race

Republican Paul M. Brown attacks incumbent Clarence E. Miller for neglecting Southeastern Ohio and appeals for more liberal representation and stronger Vietnam policy. He endorses Nixon bombing but urges effort to keep peace talks, pledges added district offices and direct services, and calls for greater investment in education and vocational training.

Middle School Discipline Recommendations Approved in Athens Meeting

Citizens for Better Schools approved a plan to improve discipline at Athens Middle School. Proposals include limited corporal punishment for serious offenses, parental notification, hiring a full time guidance counselor and assistant principal, plus forming a disciplinary policy committee with two parents, two teachers, two counselors, and one school board member. About 25 attended, fewer than last month’s 250.
