Attorneys Withdraw From Deskins Case
POMEROY The arraignment for Carson Eugene Deskins was adjourned after his chosen attorneys withdrew. Judge John Bacon ordered a court appointed attorney to represent Deskins, who faces a second degree murder charge for the April 4 stabbing death of Avis Harvey during an argument. Deskins testified he had only a 110 weekly salary and about 900 in debt.

Harford man arrested on intoxication and resisting arrest
Pomeroy Harvey Bush Jr. 21 of Harford West Virginia was arrested Saturday night by Sheriff Robert Martenbachs office on charges of intoxication and resisting arrest. He was released Sunday on 125 bond to appear in court next Friday.

False Report Charged To Millfield Man
A Millfield man appeared in Athens County Municipal Court Monday on charges of giving a false report claiming robbery by highway patrolmen. Charles Peyait, 27, pleaded guilty and was fined $161 and costs. Patrolmen said Peyait called from Shade claiming he was robbed at gunpoint and forced from a vehicle, but investigators found discrepancies and the suspect admitted fabricating the tale to obtain money.

Burial stunt at Kanawha City prompts thousand dollar plan
