Walter Lewis and wife of Albany visited last week and we greeted J. H. Calhoun of Moxahala. Robert Pierpont closed a term of school in the Lewis district last Friday. Cora Wolfe returns from the infirmary where she has worked for months. Mr. Helmick remains in poor health with slow recovery due to age. Farmers are busy with sod plowing and spring work. John Lewis, a leading citizen, died April 5 at his residence near here after a lingering illness. Rev. Nuzum conducted the funeral. Lewis helped promote a new church house on his farm, first service held there.

The Athens township board met Monday with directors Tresent Miles Fagan Baker Martin Sims Hibbard and Roush present. A H Sims was chosen president. James E Beard B P Randall and Mrs Oda Higgins were named directors for sub districts 3 4 and 6. White Barker and Mrs Higgins appeared and qualified. Laura Hastings Katie Walsh and H S Beechler and F E A Secoy were elected as teachers for sub districts 6 6 8 and 9. Seven months of school were ordered for the year with pay set at 27.50 monthly for sub district 12 and 25 for others, starting September 1. Seven mills were levied for school purposes. The sub district 5 school begins April 22 and sub districts 6 8 and 9 begin May 6.
