Porter Dicken Athens county dog warden collected 16 dogs running at large in Nelsonville. All were moved to the county pound in Athens. He urges owners to tie up pets and says he will return soon to continue the roundup.
Hershey Chocolate Corporation and the United Chocolate Workers settled an 11 day strike with a five point peace pact. Federal and state conciliators negotiated the agreement which lasts six months pending a union representation election among about 2400 employees. Car men accept contract in Columbus. Union street car men accepted terms covering hours wages working conditions and arbitration board establishment.

William M. Smith age 49 founder of Smith Market at 27 West Union Street died of a heart attack in his Murray City era place of business after noon today. Born in Zaleski he later ran a shop in Murray City before Athens. Survived by his mother Mrs J N Smith Nelsonville a sister Mrs Joseph Wright Nelsonville a wife and daughter Wiletta a senior at Ohio University. Father in law Conrad Wein died in Nelsonville last week. Coroner A L Pritchard from Nelsonville conducted the inquest.
L. D. Gillogly age 76 died at his Albany home after several months of ill health. He formerly operated the Albany hotel and lived there about 25 years. Survived by wife, son William and daughter Oda, two brothers Finley Athens and Elza Pataskala, Elmer Minnesota, sister Mrs. William Cooley. Services Wednesday at 1 30 p m at home conducted by Rev H E Warner with burial in Temple Cemetery.
Dr. Carl Dewey of Conneaut was appointed by Governor Davey to a seven year term on the state medical board effective immediately. He succeeds John Schumacher of Cuyahoga Falls.
Shelby Ohio ends objections to a preacher government as Mayor D B Young and Police Chief LeRoy Coffey run the city. Young manages finances well while Coffey, an Ashland College student and ex Mansfield cop, sets up police radio and signal lights and patrol cruisers. Coffey splits study and duty, while Young preaches twice each Sunday at First Lutheran Church.
In Gallipolis 37 year old Elbert McGhee shoots 37 year old William Good after he confronted McGhee and McGhee's wife Wyona near their Neil Avenue home. Police report McGhee claims Good and Mrs. McGhee had recent meetings and he acted in jealousy. Good dies en route to hospital. McGhee held in county jail. Mrs. McGhee is daughter of Jonah Borden. Good survived by sister Marguerite and brothers Charles and Jerry. Funeral services expected Thursday.
Mrs Barbara Jones a middle aged white widow filed suit in New York to recover 2315 dollars claiming she paid Father Divine for becoming one of his principal angels. The suit challenges the Harlem preacher’s angel making claims and seeks the return of the fee.
About 100 members of the Ohio Workers' Alliance marched around the Ohio State House in Columbus as deputies and special police barred entry. After four circuits, seven executive committee members tried to enter but were refused. Governor Davey denounced the group as communistic and anti-American, urging them to leave for Russia.
Cleveland. St Luke's Hospital inherits the bulk of a 3 million dollar estate from the late Francis F. Prentis financier and philanthropist. The will specifies the hospital as primary beneficiary. The estate's executor announced the bequest yesterday.

Four tax collection cases were filed in Athens County Common Pleas Court by Treasurer G. D. Gorham. Defendants include Grover Halbirt J. H. Marshall Elsie Marshall and others with claims of delinquent taxes and special assessments across properties in Canaan and Athens Townships, plus Alexander Township and related sums.

Fred Swyers 49 of 193 W Washington St Athens died suddenly Monday in an apartment at Court and State Streets from heart trouble. Survived by wife Mrs Kenneth Stahl Swyers and sons Delbert Lancaster Robert Walter Roselee, plus his father Wilson Swyers and four brothers and one sister. Funeral Thursday at two o'clock with arrangements pending.
