Athens banka advised by the Secretary of Treasury that Fourth Liberty Loan bonds called for redemption may be exchanged for new 3 1/4 per cent treasury bonds of 1944 46 not later than Thursday April 12. The called bonds are those with numbers ending in 0 or 1.

Washington April 11 advocates of higher income taxes planned a fresh assault in the Senate today. Senator James Couzens Republican Michigan moved for reconsideration of the 46 to 44 vote by which the Senate yesterday rejected his blanket 10 percent tax increase. Senator William E Borah Republican Idaho said he would push for action on proposals to raise taxation on consolidated corporate returns if the Couzens amendment fails again.
Oberlin April 11 A one house state legislature was advocated today by the social science section of the Ohio College Association through its president Dr Harvey A Wooster of Oberlin College He said vote trading has undermined confidence in the two house system and could be eliminated by a single legislative body.
First day sales of legal liquor in small-city stores opened Saturday netted $6,520.45, with 4,149 bottles sold in Dayton, Ashtabula, Campbell, Canton, Lima, and Youngstown. The figures were released by the auditing department of the State Liquor Control Commission.

Insull's lawyers have hinted at new moves in his behalf, while the Turkish government pushes ahead with extradition plans to please the United States.
Cleveland April 11 Louis Bernstein Park Avenue Cleaners owner was freed on bond pending an appeal after being found guilty of contempt of court for violating a fire code order. Common Pleas Judge George P Pact fined him 50 cents and costs for charging below the 75 cent minimum in dry cleaning.
City water service will be cut between 10 and 12 tonight to complete repairs on mains in the business district. Service Director O W Group urges residents to plan accordingly and avoid water use during the outage.

President Roosevelt sails toward Miami aboard Vincent Astor's yacht Normada to meet General Hugh S. Johnson and Donald Richberg. They will travel to Washington to brief the President on the recovery program and report improving economic conditions and a continuing business upturn.

Hollywood April 11. Ed Kuykendall of the Motion Picture Theater Owners of America urged producers to purge indecencies from films. He backed the Catholic Church cleanup campaign calling for a boycott of pictures deemed risque or vulgar. He said such content spoils storytelling and must be stopped.
Two new Democratic candidates filed for county offices today. Merwin Mansfield of Canaan Township submitted a petition for county commissioner, while John E. Green of Albany filed for sheriff. Mansfield is linked with Grange and farm group activities, and Green is noted as an amateur athlete and boxer.

This marks the third such defeat of sales tax bills in a year.
The Athens state liquor store awaits only liquor supply and Columbus approval to begin operations. A lone armed bandit, identified by attendant Lawrence Gates and Lloyd R. Perrin of Massillon, robbed the Drummond Filling Station at 6 this morning on Second Avenue and Sycamore Street, taking about 18 dollars after opening the register for change. Perrin, a former CCC Camp resident discharged two months ago, has visited the city with a girl and is sought by Maashillon police at Potter Chief John Fraley's request.
Alfred Freudenfeld, 45, an insurance broker, allegedly fired on five family members and then killed himself amid a distressed mental state. The six bodies were found in the basement, with the family cat also slain.

Amendments to income chain and school taxes were debated. results may shape a forthcoming primary election. Rep. Carey proposed parish aid for healers, defeated 57 to 36.
Gallipolis April 11. A remonstrance signed by about 600 of 700 electors in the Crown City and Guyan Township districts will be filed with the Gallia County Board of Education Saturday protesting the creation of the Crown City Guyan School District. Attorney H M Miller represents the complainants. The county board argues that consolidating the districts and schools would save costs.
