House debates liquor constitutional amendment in Columbus
In the House on Tuesday General J. B. Jones moved a substitute amending the joint resolution to submit to voters a liquor license local option or tax question. The Jones substitute passed 53 to 20 after speeches by Covert Jones Locke Bloom Bishop and others. Dempey offered to strike local option, keeping license and tax, but the amendment failed after debates led by Jones Kurtz and others. Republicans should prepare for the fall campaign.
