Crystal Pool to Open This Summer in Athens
Athens city officials and health department representatives have agreed to open Crystal Pool this summer after addressing safety and health faults found in last fall’s inspection. Major deck repairs are delayed. corrections focus on chlorination, lifeguard equipment, and shower and dressing room hazards. Mayor Raymond Shepard says a new pool with removable top and sides may be built in the future, possibly on stadium property, while not selling the current stadium site. Carl White, 75, was hospitalized after falling ill at his home early Friday.
