Athens mourns the death of Miss Lou Bradberry at Clarksville after a months illness. She was about 48, longtime Athens resident since girlhood, survived by two sisters Mrs. W L Means of Macon and Mrs. Arthur Burch of Athens, and her brother Mr Robert Bradberry. Body to arrive in Athens today at noon by the Southern Railway. funeral plans to be announced.

Veteran Lewis Cook Buried Yesterday in Atlanta
Atlanta Sept 26 The body of Louis Cook formerly of Atlanta who died Sunday in New York will arrive Friday morning at 5. The funeral will be from R H Caldwell 146 Gordon Street and interment will be in West View. He belonged to Cams Walker UCV and leaves sons Frank G Cook Claude C Louis Jr and Edgar and a daughter Miss Belle Cook. He lived long in Atlanta later in Athens and spoke of Civil War times. He submitted to arrest after the war to allow Jefferson Davis and his comrades time to flee to avoid punishment. His wife went to New York years ago to join her son but he refused to consent to their return.

Settlement Reached In Vaughan Versus City Of Athens Case
After a lengthy legal battle, Mrs. J. B. Vaughan and the City of Athens agreed to a amicable settlement. The city will proceed with construction of a Firemen's Hall on Washington Street. The case, filed August 21, involved multiple hearings before Judge Brand as affidavits and law books were exchanged. The restraining order was dissolved earlier, and the parties reached settlement just before a further hearing on supersedeas. Carter Musical Comedy Company Opens Colonial October First

A Colored Man's Home Burned Last Night
The residence of George Johnson, a colored farmer, on Lexington road several miles from the city, was totally destroyed by fire. The house belonged to Phil Neiley, the father-in-law of Johnson. Little of the household effects was saved. The family had used the fireplace the previous afternoon and a coal is suspected to have rolled from the hearth, starting the fire. No one was hurt.
