Clarke county pursues vagrants with police action led by Chief Calp and Sheriff Wier. Officers arrest those refusing work under the Calvin law and bring them before justices, aiming to clear streets both in Athens and rural areas.
Dr W H Young pastor of First Baptist and Ir Hopkins pastor of First Methodist gave short addresses to the State Normal School students. They invited teachers to attend services at their churches during their stay in the city. Mr M G Michael left yesterday for Boston and New York.
Lucy Cobb Institute will start its regular fall session next Wednesday morning under Principal Mrs. M A Loscomb. Dormitory capacity is full and the outlook for the year is the brightest in the school's history. Holiday recess will move from Monday to Saturday this year after last year’s unsatisfactory trial.
