The High Shoals electric road proposal remains a hot topic with Baxter and Stephenson reporting strong public engagement. In Athens, citizens praise paved streets boosting auto and bicycle use as Hon. Pleasant A. Stovall notes Athens’ progress and paved infrastructure attracting investment.
Mop W. C. Westmoreland, a prominent horseman in Northeast Georgia racing, praises Athens as a top mile track and envisions buying several horses in Kentucky to bring to Athens for racing. He notes Athens as one of the Souths best race venues and plans further purchases after United States travel.
The Doles-Cook Brigade Survivors will hold an annual reunion in Augusta during the Confederate Vets' Reunion. At a meeting of Demosthenian Phi Kappa and faculty committees the negative side for the Georgia North Carolina debate was chosen. Forty students will enter the contest. W O Roberts was elected Demosthenian president and C B Oliver Phi Kappa president at the weekly literary societies meeting.
The Winnie Davis Memorial Hall at the State Normal School was formally transferred by the Georgia Division of the Daughters of the Confederacy. The ceremony at the memorial hall featured addresses by Mrs. James A. Rounsaville, Pleasant A. Stovall, Joseph H. Hall, and others, with Miss Mildred Rutherford praised for fundraising efforts. The Cobb-Daley Camp furnished a room, and a luncheon followed the program.
Citizens describe Athens real estate as selling fast with high prices and eager buyers. They note many dollars idle, many properties quickly changing hands, and strong faith in the city’s bright future. The market is said to be unusually robust and active.
There will be services at Oconee Street Church tomorrow with the furnace in good position so the church will be warm and comfortable. At the morning service the sacrament will be administered.

Athens Day is set for Tuesday with local merchants urged to grant half days. Gambling is expressly prohibited on the grounds.
Mrs. A O Harper of Elbert county funds and names the infirmary at the Winnie Davia Hall on the State Normal School grounds in Athens as the Crawford W Long infirmary to honor the discoverer of anesthesia. The project will begin furnishing soon and is praised by Daughters of the Confederacy delegates.
Treasurer B F Holder Jr has returned and will begin mailing the remaining premiums from the recent fair. Livestock art garden club and a few others will receive checks in a few days. Also a local ad promotes DeWitts Little Early Risers with a testimonial from Bob Moore of Lafayette Indiana.
