Funerals Held for Two Children in Athens Incident
Yesterday morning at 11 o clock funeral services were held for Charles Henry Marbut age eighteen months at his South Lumpkin street home. He died from pneumonia the day before. Rev George Stone preached at the Norton street funeral for Louise Norton nine years old at her North Milledge avenue home. She died from diphtheria. Interment for Louise was in Oconee cemetery.

Candler Named Governor Candidate After Clarke County Petition
Former Governor Allen D. Candler announced his bid for governor after Clarke county voters signed a petition. Seventy Tons of Earth Entombs Five Workmen
A cave in at the southeast corner of Pryor and Houston streets in Atlanta entombed five workers during a morning excavation. Three men, all described as black, were killed. two others, including a white man, O. C. Upchurch, and a black man, were injured but not expected to die. The incident occurred at 7:45 a.m. under contractor G. M. Perdue for Gresham Manufacturing Company, for a hotel project by Progressive Realty Co. Perdue blamed workers' failure to heed safety orders as the cause.
