Attempted wreck on Central of Georgia line near Athens
Sanders Reagan, a Negro, was jailed in Clarke county prison to await trial for an alleged felony after an attempt to wreck a Central of Georgia passenger train at the ninety nine and a half mile post outside Athens. A heavy iron obstacle on the track derailed a handcar on a late work crew, injuring several men but likely saving the passenger train from a serious collision.
