An hour of efficient council work saw Alderman Tibbetts retain his seat while the city moved quickly on key items. The council approved purchasing an incinerator and authorized a regulation patrol wagon, with the session held as needed for urgent matters.
In Athens Georgia on October 15 1915 Alderman John F Tibbetts of the Fourth ward withdrew his resignation tendered October 5 1915. A prior note from candidates Crane and Capps announced they would withdraw their bids for the unexpired term to aid the city and be thanked by the council.

Guardsmen and special deputies secured the area and ordered the dispensaries closed. Six arrested. The chaotic scene followed threats and a fight in the hallway adjoining the committee rooms amid contested primary votes. Mayor race results showed Tristram Hyde leading over Mayor Grace by nineteen votes.
