The Athens Herald article alleging Black citizens would vote solidly to defeat a commission government is denounced as untrue and politically motivated. Citizens denounce the tactic as racist, noting the smear originated with commission advocates to sway labor and white voters.
Talmadge Brothers & Co announce moving from Clayton Washington location to the corner of Thomas and Hancock. They plan to build a new wholesale place, remodel the current one to offer large or small retail stores fronting both streets, and open additional retail stands in the center.
The grand jury returns additional indictments against J. C. Moore alongside previously charged matters. Authorities continue pursuing legal action as the case unfolds.
Yesterday the fifth true bill was returned against J. C. Moore alias J. W. Lindsey, an insurance man, charging him with felonies including larceny after trust. He maintains he can explain the matters underlying the criminal suits.

Six year old Martin McDonald, son of liveryman A. J. McDonald, darted from behind cotton bales into the path of a car tested by Pendley of Epps garage on Clayton street near the Storey cotton warehouse. He suffered a bruise to the head and abdomen, a gash, but no bones broken. He was treated by Dr Benedict and later returned home with Pendley. Doctors considered the injuries not serious unless internal damage appears.
A premature obituary notes the death of Hobert Jones Jr aged two at his parents home Mr and Mrs Robert Jones near Southern Manufacturing Company. The family receives condolences as the funeral is held today at 10 o clock.
Mas s Jestic presents an all new program this afternoon at 4 15. The first half week went well but today’s bill promises stronger appeal with Pauline Fisher musical novelty The McLinns Acrobats and the favored Lowe and Sterling returning with a complete act change Matinee 4 14.
Today the Crystal presents Marooned featuring Miss Gertrude Robinson in The Toll of the Desert a gritty Western drama. See this program today with a guest appearance and local theater vibe.

Yesterday afternoon the funeral of Mrs. H. H. Arnold was held at the First Methodist church with Rev C C Jarrell delivering the sermon and Rev S R England assisting. Songs were fitting and the minister’s remarks reflected her life and death. Interment followed in Oconee cemetery.
Tomorrow night the YWCA opens its fall and winter entertainments at the Athletic building with The Killarney Girls and Miss Rita Ride. The program promises Irish songs readings legends and musical numbers in a two and a half hour show with a sparkling stream of entertainment.
The annual Rhodes scholarship exams are held yesterday and today at the University of Athens. Participants include H B Harmon of Gainesville Georgia University, E S Whitehead of Comer, and R W Why of Edison, with two from Florida and one from Mercer. Also promotes ripe tomatoes green bell peppers fresh okra tomatoes from Arnold Abney with phone 1076.
Yesterday at 12 40 the body of Mr H D Catlett who died from a large dose of carbolic acid was carried to New Harmony church near Commerce on the Southern Railroad and laid to rest. The Rev S R Grubb conducted the service and Rev J H Wood led the burial at the grave. Fellow workers and employers acted as pall bearers. Mrs Catlett is seriously affected by the shock of her husband s death.
The College YMCA at the University of Georgia will host a weekly meeting in the assembly hall Library building campus at 7 30 o clock. Pastor E L Hill D D of First Presbyterian Church will speak. General Secretary R M Guess is arranging helpful programs for the fall and winter for the students.
