Citizens press for clear answers on proposed Athens commission plan. They demand names of slated commissioners, tax impact, board reestablishment, and how four year terms affect voter rights, policing, and services amid calls for openness and accountability.
District Passenger Agent Geissler of the Seaboard Air Line Railway in Atlanta visited Athens with local agent Hoke. He thanked residents who support the early morning Atlanta train with buffet service and announced plans to equip all trains through Athens with buffet or parlor cars and an improved light breakfast on the Athens to Atlanta run. The Athens Chamber of Commerce had pressed the issue with Geissler and local officials Capps, and the effort has paid off.
The bar of Athens will meet in Judge Brands office at 11 o clock to set a calendar of cases for the October term of the superior court convening on the 18th.

Miss Nixon a stenographer for Judge E K Lumpkin was slightly hurt by a glint from a car on the Hill street temporary line. She sprang from the hand rail and jumped in the dark at the Hill and Church crossing narrowly escaping more serious injuries.
Dr Marion McHenry Hill of Atlanta delivered the chief address at the university chapel during the Young Men's Christian Association weekly Bible discussion and study. He is a noted Southern authority on Bible study and his talk was praised as a gem of thought and expression.
Yesterday afternoon District Passenger Agent Geissler of the Seaboard Air Line Railway told a Banner reporter that no city of Athens size has as much building now underway. He praised Athens for its fine hotel office buildings and courthouse and city hall, noting its growth since returning to Georgia.
Prof. R. S. Pon of the University has purchased a desirable residential lot on Dearing street and will soon begin erecting a comfortable dwelling.
Two funerals held within fifty yards of each other drew attention in the neighborhood as mourners gathered at adjacent chapels within minutes of one another. Local officials thanked attendees for maintaining decorum during the dual services.
Yesterday two services were held in close succession for Mr. J Thomas Eberham at the First Methodist and Mr. Joseph Burch at the First Presbyterian. Police and city officials attended Eberham’s service, with interment at Oconee cemetery. Burch’s funeral noted his long business life and sons daughters mourned before a large crowd, burial also at Oconee cemetery.
Assistant Postmaster Paul Smith returned to work after two weeks away to compile quarterly reports. While on vacation his family moved to a country farm on the Jefferson road. Inspecting stored forage, he fell through a barn trap floor and sustained multiple broken ribs. The injury remains serious.

Governor Slaton appointed Hon. Lucius L McMullan of Hartwell as trustee of the State College of Agriculture Ath ens to succeed his late father Hon. A J McMullan. The son was named on recommendation by J B McCurry of Hart county and the appointment reflects the governor’s high regard for the father.
Mr A Meeks longtime editor of the Banks County Gazette and Journal of Homer and former Banks County school superintendent visited Athens yesterday. He praised the citys growth and prospects, noting its progress and development during his stay.
Mr O R Hinton departed yesterday afternoon for New York to join his wife and young daughter, who are returning from a European summer.
Mrs. D F Miller asks as many ladies as possible from Dr R P Stevens Sunday school class to attend the First Methodist church this evening at 8 30. They will assist with serving refreshments for the reception honoring students of the congregation in local educational institutions.
