AP dispatch notes no Turkish reply to Turkish land forces firing on the Tennessee launch. Cable traffic to Asia Minor is nearly paralyzed by the European war. The incident is viewed as a serious warning in a mined and closed port.
San Francisco report states Japanese and Chinese mills are buying cotton at eight cents per pound, with mills running to capacity and vessel space fully booked. Demand drives continued high activity in cotton trade.
In Atlanta on November 19 John Bray of Salina Ga died after a quarrel over payment for drinks at the Owl's Club. Apeddler A S Cosby is held on a murder charge. Cosby had been suspended for a disturbance, met Bray downstairs, and another quarrel led to the shooting. Cosby was uninjured.

Dr W S Hall of Chicago and Northwestern University spoke to hundreds of students and faculty at the University on The Parallel of the Individual in Progress with the Race Psychically and Physically. He traced growth from youth to maturity alongside the race through savagery, barbarism, chivalry, to modern life, drawing a striking parallel.
The Georgia hunting season opens today for partridges and doves. A county license at $1 is required for residents, plus a state license $3 for hunting in other counties. Licenses may be obtained from Clerk E J Crawford. written landowner permission is needed unless hunting on one's own land. Receipts yesterday totaled about sixty dollars with many applicants seeking state licenses.
John Barrett director general of the Pan American Union opened the Mississippi Valley and Central West trade conference in Memphis. He proposed a five hundred million dollar loan to South and Central American nations over five years expected to generate more than one and a half billion dollars in U S trade. Barrett led the afternoon session on conference organization.

Mrs Edith Davis head of the department of scientific investigation and instruction in the World National organizations of the Woman's Christian Temperance Lecture will deliver a lecture at the Christian church this evening at 8 o'clock She will also speak to the State Tow morning at the chapel hour
This afternoon at two o clock city registration closes and unpaid taxes incur fines tomorrow. Unregistered voters will be barred from the aldermen primary. pay taxes this morning to avoid extra costs.
Thomas L. Mitchell sues Arthur E. Griffith a leading local figure and Southern Mutual Insurance official for 25000 dollars claiming he was struck in the face and head at Griffiths office on November 16 1912. Mitchell formerly served as official bookkeeper at the Southern Mutual home office.
Athens city ordinance banned defacing paving but college freshmen painted the number 18 in red and black across the sidewalks two hundred places. The act followed earlier infractions amid the opening of Georgia's season, with no games to justify the vandalism.

Toys and coats are also welcomed as Christmas approaches along with orders for wood and coal.
Final notice warns that Friday November 20 at 2 p.m. is the deadline for last city tax payment under the Mayor and Council. Nonpayment incurs penalties and may prevent registration. City Marshal B. F. Woods issued the order.
Banks seek lower rates as federal reserve banks limit discounting to a few million dollars over three days. Districts from the south and west request permission, but the board plans no rate change until reserves move to vaults. In Carrollton on November 19 the Georgia Baptist convention trustees elected Dr. John D. Mell of Athens as president to succeed Dr. C. H. S. Jackson. Mell, son of former Southern Baptist president Dr. P. H. Mell, has long served as Georgia Baptist president and as a parlia mentary lecturer. If he accepts, he would lead Bessie Tift College after Shorter College withdrew from convention patronage. The convention plans a $100,000 fundraising drive for the college, with $20,000 immediate, as the institution valued at about $292,000 seeks stability.
Frank L. Upson receives a two year reappointment as referee in bankruptcy at this place. The Northern District of Georgia reappoints several for territorial jurisdictions including Percy H. Adams in Atlanta over Fulton and part of DeKalb counties and George L. Adamson in Marietta over Cobb Cherokee Pickens Gilmer Fannin Dawson Union Milton Alvan D. Freeman in Newnan and others across the region. The list includes N L Hutchins Jr in Lawrenceville W S Rowell in Rome Frank L. Upson in Athens and William W. Wright in Blakely among numerous counties and cities.
A Belgium relief fund update lists recent contributions totaling 430 dollars and 75 cents. Cash gifts include 25 cents, 1.60 from a friend, 8.80 from a University of Georgia student, 1 from Cherokee Corners church, 2 from Dr W A Carlton, 1.50 from Mrs F K Freeman, 3 from Mrs R W Lamkin, 1 from Dan Conlan, 1 from State Normal (additional), and 10 from Percy S Johnson.
