The North Georgia conference benevolence fund has distributed over thirty thousand dollars to widows and orphans since its founding. Rev. M. J. Cofer has been president since 1895, with about seven thousand dollars on hand. Rev. S. B. Ledbetter became treasurer in 1899. The association relies on clerical and lay member contributions and bequests. The annual session will host around seven hundred delegates, with many distinguished ministers expected from Rabun to Tybee. The Baptist special train brought over four hundred delegates. arrivals continue tonight and tomorrow. The first business includes electing officers for the convention.

Senator Alexander S Clay Dies After Illness in Atlanta
United States Senator Alexander Stephens Clay of Georgia died at Robertson Sanatorium in Atlanta Sunday at 5 PM after an extended illness. He had seemed improved earlier, spoke briefly with his son Herbert, and then suddenly ceased speaking. Mrs Clay traveled from Marietta earlier, while the only family member at the deathbed was son Herbert Clay, mayor of Marietta.

Senator Clay Dies at 57 After Ill Year
Physicians ruled death from dilation of the heart superinduced by arterial sclerosis. Senator Clay, 57, died after a relapse at the sanitarium on November 1. He served his third U S Senate term and left a widow, five sons, a daughter, and his Cobb County parents. Funeral set for Tuesday at Marietta. Born September 25, 1853, in Cobb, he rose from local schools to Hiawassee College, law career, Cobb County representative and speaker pro tem, then long Senate career beginning 1897.
