Proponents argue local circulation will rise through wages, materials, and services, with profits returning to residents over 30 years despite interest. The plan aims to improve assets and local prosperity.
Sheriff Walter K. Jackson transferred Tiney and Albert Mobley to Yanks county where they begin terms for voluntary manslaughter of Andrew Ross. Albert receives eight years, Tiney twelve. Both men had been held in Clarke county jail for over eight months.

Mrs Harry C White is expected to be the next federation president after Mrs Hugh Willett led a notable administration. Reports from clubs including Athens were read with officer elections planned for Friday.

Miss Jennings of Rochester New York will open a Saturday winter dancing class for youths at DuPree Hall. Sessions run weekly with age groups 5–10, 10–15, and 15–20 from 3 to 4, 4 to 5:20, and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. References from Mrs. Natalie Fontaine and others establish credentials.
Grady Hartley, a young man who died in a gin near Red Stone on Monday, was buried yesterday at Mispeh Church in Jackson County.
A dozen Central of Georgia officials visited Athens yesterday staying two hours. Citizens and chamber members welcomed them and discussed the railroad’s role in local business. The party rode around the city by auto due to bad weather and pledged cooperation with Athens’ growth and progress.
The Young Men's Christian Association holds seven Sunday afternoon meetings at the Majestic Theater on Clayton Street during November and December. Walter's Orchestra provides a 30 minute concert from 3:45 to 4:10 prior to lectures on sex life education. Dr. M. J. Troutman will speak on The Cost of Wrong Doing on November 12 with free admission.
A plea for a dedicated storage room at the new court house to warehouse furniture and goods taken in levy awaiting sheriff sale. Goods already lie in the yard and hallways, including a cottage organ and assorted furniture, risking rain damage and theft. Building space and security are cited as urgent concerns to prevent further loss.
Heavy rains flood Commerce Georgia with the heaviest rainfall of the year flooding streets. Sea fowls from Savannah arrive and are donated to the Four County fair by Messrs Ward and Ray and put on exhibit at the fair grounds.
T B Walker, a black man charged with killing C S Helenshead, was found guilty in Washington Georgia. He was sentenced to be hanged November 29 after a jury deliberated under half an hour. Walker had confessed to officers but pleaded not guilty.
Mr C T Young announces his bid for re election praising his work as police committee chair suppressing the blind tiger traffic. He credits leading many cases to trial and aims to complete the stockade project during his term.
The Majestic offers an extraordinary Rogd program today with two reels of pictures praised as among the best from Reliance and Thanhouser. If weather allows, visitors are urged to attend. Miss Loftis performs several of her best songs as part of the program.
Vitagraph's A Southern Soldier's Sacrifice will be shown at the Lyric today. The Vitagraph Co. is well known, and no further praise is needed for their productions.
Lubin feature titled one of the best comedies with Miss Lawrence and Arthur Johnson screens at the Elie today. A light, mirthful film aims to lift blues and entertain. Williamson's advertises plum pudding mince meat Georgia syrup and Buckwheat in heat options.
In Leesburg Georgia on November 8 a jury was finally secured for Maude Childers charged with poisoning her bride. State Chemist Stallings testified to strychnine found in the bride’s stomach and in a bottle. If Childers is convicted Rob ert Kennedy held for the same alleged crime may not be indicted. The case has drawn great attention and shock at the arrest of a model husband.
Entries closed at noon with no new candidates. Present officials to be re elected for two years starting January 1 1912. Mayors and aldermen named H J Rowe B F Woods C T Young J F Foster B Y Harris. Primary set for the 22nd. general election on the first Wednesday in December.
The United States court faced multiple mistrials yesterday delaying moonshine prosecutions. Court work was hindered by several unavoidable impediments and more criminal cases are expected today with no adjournment before Saturday.
Augusta Georgia November 8 prize winners at the Georgia Carolina fair include best general display of apples with 10 varieties and 25 plates awarding 35 dollars to Fred Penham of Cornelia, best exhibit of apples five varieties with four specimens per plate awarded to Fred Penham of Corvelia, best single plate of any apple variety four specimens per plate awarded to Fros Snelling of Athens.
