U D C Defends Memorial Day Perpetuity in South History
Personal social notes and calendar items from Athens weekly page cover social notices, church and club events, and wartime community activities. The column emphasizes the United Daughters of the Confederacy as a nonpartisan perpetuating body, arguing against disbandment and praising Memorial Day duties, heritage education, and philanthropic work. It also lists upcoming society events, plays, and gatherings around May and June.
