Athens to get new depot on College Avenue near river
Athens will gain a handsome depot for the Georgia Carolina and Northern at the lower end of College Avenue by the Oconee River. Capt Jeptha H Rucker sold the land for about five thousand dollars. The depot will be large, modern and well equipped, boosting freight and passenger traffic and boosting College Avenue as a major thoroughfare. The Augusta and Chattanooga line also stirs railroad circles with Western capitalists planning to build the road. Athens remains a top railroad city.

Mob in Columbia Executes Green Wells After Lynching

Fatal Duel After High School Dispute in Clarksville
