Normal School closes for session amid sermon and address

The State Normal School ends its session and returns students home. Rev D W Brannen preached on Follow Me at the auditorium. Myron T Scudder, president of State Normal School at New Paltz, urged manual training and a broader curriculum including domestic arts and practical skills for daily life.

Dots Counting Contest Draws Wide Participation and Prizes

New Usonee Church Opens With Full Services and Praise

The Usonee church held its first service in the new building to a full house Sunday morning. Rev M H Eskes led remarks after the opening hymn into prayers, with additional messages from Rev Elligon D Stone Rev George E Stent and others. Sunday school met in the new hall with nearly 150 attendees as the congregation anticipates a strong future.

Keystone Chapter Meets Tonight at Royal Arch Masons Lodge

Keystone Chapter Royal Arch Masons holds regu lar meeting at the Max Joseph building lodge room. High Priest M G Michael and Scribe W H Shiele report on Grand Chapter at Macon and handle other business of importance. Memorial exercises were held Saturday for Capt Bradwell, the school’s first president, with President Branson praising his contributions to the State Normal School.

Veterans Leave for New Orleans with Cobb-Delaney Camp

Many Confederate veterans from Cobb-Delaney Camp UCV left Athens yesterday for New Orleans to attend the organization's annual reunion. Captain J J C McMahan organized the trip aboard Seaboard Air Line via Atlanta. A separate note discusses Barnett Shoals waterpower potential for a 500000 dollar cotton mill and extension of Athens Electric Street Railway to Whitehall, with expected 3000 horsepower and broad county prosperity.

Alumnae Meeting at Lucy Cobb Friday in Athens

Lucy Cobb alumnae in Athens hold a meeting at Margaret Hall Friday afternoon May 22 at 5 oclock to plan the annual reunion on June 8. Mrs Billups Phinny presides with Miss Basil ine Prince as secretary urging strong alumnae support for the school. Infant Charles Proctor Dies After Brief Illness

A ten month old infant, Charles Proctor, died Sunday night at the home of Mr and Mrs W T Bryan on Prince Avenue after a short illness. The funeral was held yesterday at the Bryan home with many friends present, conducted by Dr S Hopkins and Dr W H Young, and interment followed in Oconee Cemetery.

City Court in Session Opens May Term in Athens

Yesterday morning the regular May term of the City court of Athens opened with Judge Howell Cobb presiding. The session will run several days with numerous civil and criminal cases to be tried.
