A four o clock meeting at the city hall focuses on the Greater Athens movement as Athens grows rapidly. The gathering, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and local business leaders, invites broad attendance with no fee and seeks public input on Athens future development.
This afternoon at three o clock the first series of horse races will be held at the fair grounds. Several horses in this section will race, with a warm up period and a full racing program planned. The track has been prepared and maintained for days, admission is twenty five cents, and every seat in the grand stand will be filled.

The general assembly discusses creating a new Tugalo judicial circuit combining Elbert Hart Franklin Stephens Habersham Rabun and Banks counties. The plan shifts Frankin Banks from the Western circuit to the new district with Elbert Hart to the Northern circuit and Stephens Rabun to the Northeastern. Senator Camp of Franklin will sponsor the bill with Senator Hawes of Elbert backing it, while opposition from affected circuits is anticipated. Also notices wanted for second hand bags and burlap with payment on freight by Richmond Bay Co.
The Great Council of Red Men completed its visit to Athens as crowds praised the hospitality. The next convention will bring mayors to town on the 28th and committees seek homes for representatives. The Improved Order of Red Men adjourned to the Great Council yesterday at 11:30 am and from Soqnee Tribe’s wigwam headed to a city barbecue arranged by the local committee. Athens people praised the hospitality and the event. They then went to the State Normal School for brief exercises with Prof. E. B. Smith and Hon. Miles of Atlanta, toured campus facilities, and toured the city by car before returning to the University grounds for further demonstrations.
Services led by Rev FP A Caldwell in Monroe Gin attract increasingly larger congregations as attendees note the preacher’s appeal amid a growing food ministry. A Tuesday sermon titled The Two Men drew praise from listeners. Meanwhile a fatal rail-yard incident near the Southern Manufacturing Company site leaves questions about causes and possible foul play, with coroner Weatherly calling for a thorough inquest.
Tonight's sermon titled 1D cision will urge sinners toward personal salvation. Mr Caldwell's preaching favors old line gospel emphasis, plain and simple, based entirely on faith in God. Local attendees who have shown interest are expected to align with the Lord at this gathering.
The adjourned Athens council meeting tonight at eight will consider proposals to issue fifty thousand dollars for a new sewerage system and twenty five thousand dollars for the University of Georgia. Officials anticipate these measures being submitted to Athens voters in a summer election on the University campus. Visitors expressed satisfaction with their reception before departing.
