Prof Jere M. Pound of Barnesville was elected president of the State Normal School, with Prof Eugene Branson chosen unanimously to chair Rural Economics and to remain on the faculty. Branson’s 15 years guide the school from 66 initial students to 663 on campus and 832 with Muscogee Practice inclusion. Pound, a former Gordon Institute president and state school commissioner, is expected to accept and will confer with the prudential committee in Athens.

Lad Fell Thirty Feet in Forest Stunt
William Eppes of 1256 Henderson avenue suffered a painful injury after falling from a tree. He tumbled about thirty feet to the ground and avoided bone breaks, though his right elbow was severely wrenched and one bone displaced by two inches. The lad remained steadfast as the surgeon reset the bone.

Athens Gas Deal Approved By Georgia Rail Commission
The Georgia State Railroad Commission approved a proposed $250,000 forty year 5 percent bond issue and $125,000 in stock for the Athens Gas Light and Fuel Company. Bonds fully authorized, stock cut to half, with $225,000 of bonds and all stock to acquire the company’s properties free of liens, and $27,000 for immediate improvements per commission plans.
