Heroism on the Gainesville Midland saves child from train
Yesterday morning on the Gainesville Midland Railway a colored fireman named Soap Lockett saved a two and a half year old child of Mr and Mrs John Potter from being run over by northbound train No 2 near Jefferson. He leaped through the cab window and dragged the child to safety as engineer Tom Adair and conductor Gus Clark faced a deadly curve. both men were shaken but unharmed, and the fireman resumed his duties after the rescue.
