Athens will launch an eight day drive starting May 20 1912 to raise $60 000 for a new Y M C A building and modern equipment. The campaign follows peers in other cities and aims to meet growing local needs.

A historic circus style event arrives in the city this Wednesday featuring Gentry Brothers All New Feature Shows with camels and elephants trained for children's rides at the hippodrome tent. Attendants offer pony rides for the timid and a performing troupe of lions and leopards will appear alongside two shows and pictures at Elite cinema.
The Majestic featured vaudeville acts that pleased the local crowd with a fine orchestra performance. Daily pictures ran from 1 to 4:30 PM and again at 5 PM, with two reels priced at five cents for vaudeville and pictures. matinee admission was 15 cents.
The mayor and council discussed widening Waddell Street from Milledge to Finley with property owner signatures still needed. They also reviewed a G G Bond proposal for three grades at College Avenue School as the city outgrows the current system and prepares for September openings.
The Georgia Bulldogs adjust schedules with Georgia Tech. First game moves to Atlanta May 16, then Athens May 17, and two games in Atlanta May 18. The change follows the Southern League’s Atlanta homecoming on the 18th.
The Colonial Theatre opened last night with vaudeville and moving pictures. Notable acts included Eleanor Cameron and a violinist, drawing a large crowd and strong audience reaction.
Mrs Mary A Murry aged 47 died at home in Cla on Barnett Shoalé around 4 o clock after several days illness. Rev Willie conducted the funeral yesterday afternoon with services at the home and burial in a cemetery. Survived by husband Murry and three children. Parish and church members note she was a good neighbor.
The Old English May Festival, initially set for last Saturday, was postponed again due to rain and uncertain weather. Also on the program was a Georgia versus Wabington and Lee trial game, with Miss Kolb of the State Normal department delaying the event to a future announced date.
