Large cantaloupe acreage in Bibb county to ship cars
MACON GA Between 100 and 1650 cars of cantaloupes will be shipped to eastern and western markets from Bibb county this year. Last year only 38 cars were moved, bringing farmers about 30 000 dollars. Four shipping points are established. melons will be graded packed and moved in carload lots. Bibb County Farm Bureau provided crates and seeds reducing costs. Seventeen carloads of cabbage were shipped last year and not less than 15 cars expected this year. Other vegetables such as beans tomatoes and beets will be shipped in smaller quantities as farmers experiment.

A University of Georgia building committee from Athens and Atlanta announced Tuesday afternoon that the completion of the Alumni Hall will go forward immediately. The campaign raised funds and a real million-dollar endowment drive will proceed. The executive committee met in Atlanta, funds totaling 1.11 were turned over to the board of trustees to manage.
