Recess Ends Athens City Court Session Adjourns to March
Yesterday morning the Athens city court adjourned to the fourth Monday in March the 25th ultimo to save county expense. Several cases were heard with Henley vs Compton occupying most of the day. Will Arthur was acquitted on gambling. Elihu Reid pleaded guilty to duplicate checks and was fined 35 dollars. Jim Hill pleaded guilty to carrying a pistol without a license and was fined 25 dollars. Frank Brown, a white man, was fined 50 dollars for assault and battery on an old negro on the Nowhere road.

Death of Arrive Wa mote aged seventy two in Athens
The obituary notes Wa mote of Arrive found dead in bed yesterday morning by his family after hours of watching. He was seventy two and a former classmate of Admiral Sigsbee at Annapolis. A Confederate veteran, he lived many years with a wife and friends mourning his loss. Funeral at 2 pm today led by Rev. A A Sullivan with Odd Fellows rites at Grays cemetery.
