Athens poised to land factory as chamber urges quick response
Athens girds for a key plant agreement set to expire tonight, with citizens and firms including Athens Railway & Electric Co, Athens Gas Co, Southern Refining Co, and many others contributing toward a five story freight building project. The plan envisions a modern elevator system and viaduct to improve freight access from Foundry street to the depot site along with a new Broad street passenger station. The Georgia road aims to move closer to the city, building on its historic arrival and current depots. The Georgian plans to spend a quarter million dollars in Athens for the project and related improvements.

IXTEENTH DISTRICT ODD FELLOWS CONVENTION A SUCCESS
The Sixteenth District Odd Fellows conclave drew about 300 delegates to a Gainesville hall. Grand officers attended, with Prof. T. H. Robertson and Judge Anderson among speakers. Officers for the next term were named and the August meeting set for Alberton. Local lodges received thanks for hospitality and the program.

Oconee Veteran J. W. Johnson Dies at 74
Athens mourns the death of J. W. Johnson age 74 after months of ill health. He died Tuesday at 2 30 am from heart trouble and had lived in Watkinsville most of his life. A Confederate veteran, he served thirty years as clerk of the court ofconc, and was a Christian gentleman. He leaves a wife three sons and two daughters.

Remains of J. N. Booth Brought for Burial in Lexington
Yesterday on the Atlanta to Athens train, Joe H Booth arrived with the small casket containing the remains of his brother J N Booth who disappeared nearly a year ago. The body found near Hazen Arkansas was identified by family members and local professionals. This morning at 7 the remains were moved by the Georgia Railroad to Lexington for burial.

Hangings Ahead for Hez Stevens on March 29
Hez Stevens, convicted of murdering his wife on Rock Springs Street last summer, was sentenced to hang on December 4 but received a respite. The case was recently decided by the supreme court, and officials moved to schedule the execution in Clarke jail for Friday March 29. Judge Meadow of the Northern circuit presided after a remitter arrived by special delivery from Atlanta. Stevens has made no statement beyond his prior address to the jury.
