Georgia's 114th year celebrated at Athens commencement
The University of Georgia marked its 114th year of service with a large procession led by the high sheriff. Notable attendees included former Governor McDaniel, Senator Thomas of Colorado, and Governor Slaton. The first woman to earn a degree, Miss Lyndon, earned a master’s instead of a bachelor’s. Eighteen Civil War veterans received diplomas after fifty years, with several others conferred by trustees’ order. Notable graduates included Wong Tang Austin of Canton and Lloyd Worrell of Transvaal. A blind student, Walter McDonald of Augusta, excelled in law and campus life.

Judge John T. Pendleton named Roland Ransom as receiver of the Atlanta and Carolina railway which planned a trolley line from Atlanta to Augusta but has suspended work since 1910. Attorneys for the company protested the filing while creditors and bond trustees supported the move. Three miles of track plus thirty miles of graded roadbed were cited as progress in the project.
