Septuagenarians Settle Differences Before the Mayor
Police court drew a large crowd as violators appeared for city ordinance breaches. A notable case involved a seventy plus husband and wife quarrel leading to agreement to separate, with the husband to return home and turn over his worldly goods. Drunks and disorderly cases were also disposed of.
Grand Daughter Leads UGA Military Exercises
The annual prize drill at Sanford Field concluded with six companies in finals and twenty eight cadets tested before a large audience. John Nicholson, a freshman agriculture student, won best drilled cadet and Zach S. Cowan captained Company B to the company prize. The ceremony included the presentation of two new flags, with Miss Helen Baxter and Miss Florence Hooper receiving for the university flags, while Chancellor Barrow’s granddaughter Susan Frances Barrow led the green carpet procession and drew much attention.

Mrs Maggie Johnson Buried With Quiet Dignity
Mrs Maggie P Griffeth Johnson died Sunday morning at her Hill Street home after months of illness. Funeral services were held at 11 am from the residence with Rev Luke G Johnson and Rev Dr J W Lynch officiating. Interment followed at Oconee cemetery. Survivors include three sons Herscene Eugene and Carlton Johnson, mother Mrs Griffeth, brothers George and Jacob Johnson, and sister Mrs Lizzie Montgomery. She had lived in Athens over twenty years.

Federal Court Opens Special Term for Moonshine Cases
